Howdy Fiddler!

The fiddlin’ easy series is comprised of 125 original tunes by award-winning fiddler and music educator Shannon Quinn. These tunes are all designed with specific goals in mind. Every single tune is accompanied by a ‘directive’ underneath the title which assists the teacher and the student in finding the focus and the objective of that particular tune. Throughout the three books, the directives introduce a multitude of fiddling techniques, symbols, dynamics, tempo goals and much more. One of the objectives of the series is to help teachers foster those well-rounded sensibilities in their fiddle students, and ensure that they are able to feel comfortable sight reading as well as recognizing the different symbols and techniques that appear on sheet music. Another objective is to build and reinforce a solid fundamental understanding of rhythm, time feel, and to feel comfortable playing through various keys and time signatures. The growth and progress that will be seen in fiddlers throughout their journey in the book series is achieved through the learning and memorizing of specific rhythmic and melodic patterns. These patterns are often simplified versions of the types of rhythms and melody patterns that we see in a lot of traditional fiddle music, as well as popular advanced fiddle music today. The difficulty level of the tunes in the series climbs at a slow and steady pace while offering little easier ‘nuggets’ once and a while throughout to boost the students confidence and reinforce how much they have already learned.
